PURPOSE:In the presence of silver trifluoromethanesulfonate, a solution of phenacyl chloride or bromide and an olefin in acetonitrile is irradiated with light transmitting through pyrex glass to give the titled compound in high position selectivity and stereo-selectivity. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of phenacyl chloride or bromide with an olefin in acetonitrile is irradiated with light transmitting through pyrex glass in the presence of silver trifluoromethanesulfonate for 1-6hr to effect addition of the olefin to the phenacyl group, followed by cyclization whereby the objective compound is obtained. The examples of olefin are 1-octene, 2-methyl-2-butene, 2,3-dimethylbutene, cyclohexene, cyclo-octene, or 1-methylcyclohexene. |
