An attachment (30) for the intake hose of a suction cleaner (10) for dispensing liquid to the surface to be suctioned, near the intake to the suction nozzle (32).A liquid supply tank (60) is supported near the suction nozzle (32). A valve (90) dispenses the liquid. In one embodiment (Figure 2), a surface engaging brush (110) or roller communicates with the valve (90). When the surface engaging element engages the surface, it opens the valve (90) to dispense liquid from the tank (60) to a liquid dispensing bar (101). A second embodiment (Figure 12) uses a float valve (170) which normally closes the communication between the inlet (234) to the valve (170) and the outlet from the valve (170) to the dispenser bar (301). An additional conduit (192), communicates with the nozzle (32) to supply suction to the float valve (170), and when the suction inlet (234) to the suction nozzle (232) is partially obstructed, e.g. against the surface being suctioned, this increases the vacuum above the suction nozzle (232). The suction communicates through the additional conduit (192) to the float valve (170) to open the communication from the valve inlet (174) to the dispenser bar (301). A third embodiment (Figure 16) uses a pinch valve (507). When the valve (507) open, liquid flows downward over shelves in a progressively wider pattern until the liquid reaches the surface to be cleaned. The valve (507) is normally opened when the irrigator rests on the surface to be cleaned. However, the pinch valve (507)can be locked in a closed position by a slide switch (517).
|
