PURPOSE: To enable such an ecologically clean and fast process that a silver image not subjected to cleaning does not deteriorate even under conditions of relatively high humidity and high temp. by using a specified stabilizer. CONSTITUTION: The water-absorbing layer contains a silver complexing agent, a metal sulfide and a diffusive stabilizer for a silver image with at least 0.01g/m<2> coating rate. The stabilizer is selected from compds. of formulae I, II or the tautomerism structure of these or precursors. In formulae, X represents hydrogen, alkali metal, ammonium or org. amine, Z represents nonmetal atoms necessary to form a five or six-member heteroring, and R<1> and R<2> are independently hydrogen, amino groups, alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, cycloalkyl groups, acyl groups, -SH groups or heterocyclic groups. Thereby, a silver image without deterioration can be obtd. and a stable image accepting element which can be used in a fast and ecologically clean process can be obtd.
