A blend of high viscosity hydroxypropyl methylcellulose having a viscosity of 4 to 120 Pa.s and a low viscosity hydroxypropyl methylcellulose having a viscosity of 0.005 to 3 Pa.s is useful as a binder and thickener in adhesive compositions, especially tape joint compositions, tile adhesives, grouts, spray textures and stucco compositions.
