<p>A spray system for use in a rolling mill comprises a carriage assembly (14) mounted on linear bearings (20) for movement along an X-axis parallel to an horizontal line passing through the bite of two superposed work rolls (22), two spray manifolds (10, 12) mounted on the carriage assembly (14) along a Y-axis parallel to a vertical centerline passing through the work rolls (22), each manifold (10, 12) containing at least one spray nozzle (16) for setting a predetermined spray pattern on each work roll (22), a carriage traverse mechanism (18) for adjusting the traverse position of the carriage assembly (14) along the X-axis, and two manifold lift mechanisms (26, 28) mounted on the carriage assembly (14) to independently adjust the position of each spray manifold (10, 12) along the Y-axis.</p> |
