PURPOSE:To reduce the trouble and time for adjusting operation by comparing a detected value from a light receiving element with a predetermined reference brightness value and adjusting the light emission brightness of the plasma display panel corresponding to their deviation value. CONSTITUTION:When the brightness is adjusted, a power source is turned on to make an electrode 3 for detection illuminate and the light receiving element 4 receives its light and generates the detected value VD corresponding to the brightness. A brightness adjusting circuit 5 compares the detected value VD with the reference brightness value VREF to calculate their deviation value and sends driving pulses VPX and VPY corresponding to the deviation value to a driving circuit 6. The driving circuit 6 drives the plasma display panel 1 according to the input driving pulses VPX and VPY. For the purpose, the reference brightness value VREF is standardized to adjust the plasma display panel 1 to the same brightness and when the reference brightness is varied, the reference brightness value VREF is only varied. Consequently, the trouble and time for the adjusting operation can be reduced. |
