PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam improved in the balance between the flame retardancy and the properties by adding a brominated phenol and a brominated phenyl glycidyl ether thereto so that the bromine content of the foam may be in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A polyester polyol (A) obtained by reacting a di-, tri- or tetra- functional polyether polyol (e.g. polypropylene triol) of an MW of 200-10000 and/or an alkylene glycol with a 2-6C dibasic acid is reacted with an organic isocyanate (B) (e.g. 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate) in the presence of a flame retardant comprising a brominated phenol (C) (e.g. 2,4,6-tribromophenol) of formula I (wherein R<1> is a 1-6C alkyl; m is 0-2; and n is 1-5) and a brominated phenyl glycidyl ether (D) (e.g. dibromoglycidyl ether) in an amount to give a weight ratio C/D of (1-9)/(9-1) while expanding the reaction mixture with water or a fluorocarbon, and is cured to give a flame-retarding polyurethane foam containing components C and D and a bromine content of 2.5-10wt.%. |
