PURPOSE:To easily execute the unified control of printer item information in a system by providing the system with a connecting printer information area, a printer item file, a printer information table, and a printer information setting routine. CONSTITUTION:When a system program 4 is started, control is transferred to a printer information setting routine 6. In the routine 6, real printer information specified by a logical printer number from a system program is acquired from the connecting printer information area 2, the item information of a corresponding printer is read out from the printer item file 3 based upon the acquired information and the read item information is edited and set up in a printer information table 5. Consequently, the unified control of the printer item information can be easily executed in the system.
