The present invention is in the field of medical prostheses where there is a need for prostheses which provide the biocompatibility of collagen with the required pliancy and mechanical strength of biological vessels. To this end, the present invention provides a prosthesis composed of a uniform mixture of collagen and polyurethane foam which is suitable for use as a vascular prosthesis or soft tissue replacement.
