A constant-speed regulator keeps the speed of a motor vehicle at a desired level. The constant-speed regulator has a selector device via which a user selects the desired constant speed d a programmable central unit having a memory unit into which data concerning the driving situation is fed, such data including the use of the clutch and the brake, as well as the momentary speed. Regulating devices controlled by the central unit regulate the power and the rotary speed of the engine of the vehicle and, consequently, the speed of the vehicle. A permanent memory in the memory unit of the constant-speed regulator stores the data despite possible interruption in the supply of ignition current. The memory unit includes several memory positions for different constant speeds, which set values of constant speeds, individually or together with a pulse concerning the driving gear. The driving gear pulse may be stored by the selector device in the memory unit and read out of the memory unit to form set values for the regulato Thus, there may be a connection from the gearbox of the vehicle to the memory unit, whereby when a set value for constant speed is stored in the memory unit, information of the gear engaged at that time is also stored in such memory unit. Furthermore, the constant speed regulator may be provided with a warning device connected to the connection between the memory unit and the gearbox, to warn of an excessively low or excessively high speed of rotation of the engine and thereby indicate the possible necessity for changing the gear.
|
