PURPOSE:To treat the terminal of the optical fiber end easily with high precision, by deforming a pipe end to fix the pipe end and the optical fiber terminal part to each other after leading out the terminal part of the optical fiber from the pipe end. CONSTITUTION:This method facilitates the terminal treatment for optical fibers 2 which are stored in a pipe 1 with a space left. After a terminal part 2a of each optical fiber 2 is led out from the end of the pipe 1 by an optional length, and the end of the pipe 1 is deformed to fix its inside layer part 1a and an outside layer part 2b of each optical fiber 2a to each other. In this case, the diameter of the pipe is not contracted but the end of the pipe 1 is crushed into a flat shape by a proper jig to deform the pipe. The terminal part of the optical transmission material fixed in the manner is cut along a one-dot broken line II, and the end face of the terminal part 2a of each optical fiber 2 is worked into a specular surface simultaneously with or after cutting. |
