PURPOSE:To enhance decomposition efficiency in the presence of other components by containing monovalent or bivalent copper and forming a nitrogen oxide contact decomposing catalyst by means of 0.2 or more of zeolite molecule to 1 of copper atom. CONSTITUTION:Copper ion exchange is carried out for zeolite by using water solution containing water soluble copper salt and ammonia, and a nitrogen oxide contact decomposing catalyst containing monovalent or bivalent copper and also 0.2 or more of ammonia molecule to 1 of copper atom is prepared. It is suitable to adjust pH of slurry containing zeolite as 4-12 when copper ion exchange is carried out. As a copper source, water soluble copper salt such as copper sulfate, copper chloride, copper acetate, copper nitrate or the like is used, and as an ammonia source, ammonia water, water containing ammonia, water solution in which ammonia gas is dissolved or the like is used. |
