PURPOSE:To achieve a method where row number specification and print media matching are combined by determining a printing row position through detection of the position of the print medium and based on print information stored in a magnetic memory and the time to be elapsed after setting of a printing line mark until detection of the print medium. CONSTITUTION:A print medium is run based on the position of the print medium 3 detected through a position detecting sensor 8 and a magnetic memory mounted on the print medium 3 is moved to the position of a read/write means 9 so that print information is read out and the print line is determined. The print line can be determined based on the print information stored in the magnetic memory when the print medium 3 is simply inserted into the inserter section 1 of a printer. When the magnetic memory can not be read out, the print medium 3 is arranged such that the print line position matches to a mark 5 on the printer. Then the time time to be elapsed after setting of the print medium 3 before detection of the print medium 3 through the position sensor 8 is measured thus determining the print line position. |
