INSTILLATION CONTAINING HYALURONIC ACID

PURPOSE:To obtain an instillation having improved antiseptic effect and low stimulation and useful as a remedy for xerosis corneae and keratitis by using hyaluronic acid and its salt as essential component and compounding benzalkonium chloride and a chelating agent to the component. CONSTITUTION:Benzalkonium chloride and a chelating agent are compounded to an instillation containing hyaluronic acid and its salt. Benzalkonium chloride is a compound expressed by formula (R is alkyl) and the antiseptic effect of the component can be improved by adding a chelating agent (e.g. polycarboxylic acid such as sodium edetate and sodium cyclohexanediaminetetraaectic acid). The amount of benzalkonium chloride can be decreased and an instillation having reduced stimulation can be produced by the addition of the chelating agent. The concentration of benzalkonium chloride is preferably 0.002-0.01%, especially 0.0025-0.005% and that of the chelating agent is preferably 0.001-0.1%.
