PURPOSE:To improve color forming properties while keeping other necessary characteristics by forming a recording material by providing a recording layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compound being a specific acetylene derivative on a base material. CONSTITUTION:An electron donating leuco dye and an acetylene derivative represented by formula I (wherein Ar1 and Ar2 are an aryl group which may have a substituent) being an electron acceptive compound are dispersed in a water-soluble binder such as polyvinyl alcohol or hydroxy ethyl cellulose to prepare a coating solution for forming a thermal recording layer. This coating solution is applied to a base material such as base paper, wood free paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film and dried to form the thermal recording layer to prepare a recording material. As a suitable embodiment of the acetylene derivative represented by the formula I, there is (4-hydroxyphenyl)- phenylacetylene. |
