PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful particularly as medicines, agricul tural chemicals or an intermediate therefor under mild conditions easily in high yield, by reacting a Schiff base compound corresponding to the aimed compound with a silane compound, and treating the resultant product with a proton donor. CONSTITUTION:A Schiff base compound expressed by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or heterocycloalkyl and each has a substituent group; R<3> is H or the same group as R<1> or R<2>) is reacted with a silane compound expressed by formula II (X and Y are H or halogen), and the resultant product is then treated with a proton donor, e.g. water, mineral acid, organic acid, alcohol, phenol or thiol, to give the aimed compound expressed by formula III advantageously as follows: Reduc ing reaction of even the Schiff base compound which is reduced by the conven tional reducing agents with very great difficulty proceeds in good yield in a short time, and the product after completing the reaction is easily isolated and purified. |
