摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce cost through miniaturization of a transfer motor and to secure printing quality with durability by forming a recording electrode of a recording head in an electrothermal transfer recording apparatus in the shape of a protrusion. CONSTITUTION:A recording electrode 2 is formed on an upper surface of an insulating film 3 in a protruding shape formed in an electrode substrate 1. Chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, nickel or its mixed substance is used for the material of the electrode. At the same time, thick film process such as printing method or the like, thin film process such as sputtering, etc., or plating process is employed for formation of the electrode 2. Since the recording electrode is in contact with the curved faces of an ink film 5 and a recording paper 7, the transfer can be made smooth, the transfer load can be reduced, and the transfer motor can be compact in size. Therefore, the printing mechanism can be reduced in cost. Furthermore, decrease of very small vibrations during the transfer can reduce generation of an instantaneous slight gap between the recording electrode 2 and ink film 5, with restricting discharge at this time, whereby printing quality with durability can be secured.
