PURPOSE:To produce a cable excellent in flame retardation by using for the formation of an insulator a rubber that does not include halogen, or plastic, and an insulating material that is composed of aluminum hydroxide including Na2O on whose particle surface adsorbed a silicate and at least one kind of alkaline earth elements, or a reaction product of the both. CONSTITUTION:A flame retardant cable is composed of a conductor and an insulator, which is composed of a rubber that does not include halogen, or 100 weight parts of plastic, and 30-300 weight parts of particulate aluminum hydroxide whose heat resistance is improved. For the particulate aluminum hydroxide, the amount of Na2O is not more than 0.35wt.% and a compound of alkaline earth metal of not less than 200ppm is adsorbed on the surface of the particle. |
