The subject of the invention is a method for dividing a volume of a liquid or semi-fluid product into equal fractions. According to the invention, the product is poured through a side opening in a cylindrical enclosure 1, the inside of which is divided into separate compartments 6 of equal volumes by transverse partitions 7 which are parallel but do not extend over the entire cross section of the enclosure, this enclosure is pivoted about a shaft parallel to its generatrices in order to bring it into a first position in which the product is spread out in the enclosure without penetrating into the compartments, then the enclosure is brought into a second position in which the product penetrates into and is spread out in the compartments 6 and, finally, the enclosure is brought into a third position in which the liquid contained in at least one compartment 6 can be discharged by gravity into a container via an opening 9 made in the cylindrical wall of this compartment. <IMAGE>
