PURPOSE:To enhance charging efficiency and to increase discharge time at low temperature of a lead-acid battery by containing a specified aromatic compound. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic compound having a mercapto group is contained in a lead-acid battery. By adding this compound, difference in atomic density of sulfur atoms is produced by resonance phenomenon and chemical attachment of compounds is accelerated. In addition, required cations are produced by reaction with protons in a sulfuric acid electrolyte and the cations are adsorbed on a cathode to decrease hydrogen evolution reaction and hydrogen overvoltage on a negative plate is prevented. Charging efficiency of a lead-acid battery is enhanced and discharge time at low temperature is increased. |
