PURPOSE:To reduce the abrasion of a frictional engagement element by carrying out the speed change control according to the latest speed change condition after the lapse of a prescribed period, without carrying out the speed change control for a prescribed period when the possibility of establishment of a new speed change condition before the completion of the speed change operation exists. CONSTITUTION:A speed change control part supplies the working hydraulic pressure supplied from a line pressure formation part into the corresponding frictional engagement element of an automatic speed change mechanism, according to the speed change condition judged by a speed change condition judging means on the basis of the load detected by a load detecting means, and speed change control is performed. When the absolute value of the variation rate of the detected load is over a prescribed value, and the judged speed change condition is specific, i.e., the possibility of the establishment of a new speed change condition before the completion of the speed change operation exists, a speed change control restricting means suppresses the speed change control for a prescribed period after the judgement of the specific speed change condition, and after the lapse of the period, the speed change control following the latest speed change condition is carried out. Thus, the abrasion of the frictional engagement element can be reduced, and the speed change shock can be suppressed. |
