The lamp housing (11) is supported from the vehicle chassis via a pair of braces (14A, 14B) which allow the housing to be pivoted in a vertical direction. The lamp unit (8) itself can pivot relative to the housing in both horizontal and vertical directions. The headlamp housing is adjusted via a pair of horizontal setting screws (18) at either side of the lamp unit and via a vertical setting screw above or below the latter. The levelling adjustment of the headlamp unit is effected via a drive (30) attached to the headlamp housing or the support braces with its axis at an angle to the beam axis. An operating lever of the setting drive (30) is coupled to a nut co-operating with the vertical setting screw. ADVANTAGE - Compact levelling drive.
