PURPOSE:To reduce the number of times of stopping printing caused by the consumption of consumable goods and to continue processing for printing by controlling the interruption or the continuation of printing by a command from an external equipment at the time of informing of the requirement of the interruption of printing. CONSTITUTION:Printing data and various kinds of instruction from a host computer are inputted in a control means 2 through an interface means 1. In the same way, the setting of a toner warning detection level is inputted in the control means 2 through the interface means 1. In the control means 2, the value is set to a storage means 3 so that it can be rewritten while processing printing. On the other hand, the residual quantity of toner is inputted in a comparison means 5 by a measuring means 4. The output of the means 4 is compared with that of the means 3 by the means 5. When the output of the means 4 is lower than that of the means 3, a signal for requiring the interruption of printing is outputted to the means 2 so that the computer is informed of the signal. By inputting the command for continuing printing from the host computer, the output of the means 5 becomes off and printing is continued. The presence or absence of the requirement of the interruption of printing from the means 5 is displayed on a display unit 26. |
