PURPOSE:To improve the treatment efficiency, by adjusting relatively the outside diameter of the end part of a covered optical transmission material and the inside diameter of a metallic sleeve to cover the metallic sleeve on the outside circumference of the end part of the optical transmission material and fixing them by drawing work and finishing the end face of the optical fiber into a specular surface. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer 2 is removed from an end part 3' of a covered optical transmission material 3, and a metallic sleeve 4 is covered on this part where the layer 2 is removed, and the metallic sleeve 4 is subjected to drawing work by a manual press tool or the like to fix the metallic sleeve 3 and the end part 3' to each other. In this case, since the end part 3' of the optical transmission material 3 and the metallic sleeve 4 are fitted to each other while keeping a desired relative gap by the adjusting means due to removal of the coating layer 2, a fixed state is obtaind only by deforming the metallic sleeve thereafter by a prescribed quantity, and it is unnecessary to wait for an adhesive to harden, and the loss of time is avoided. The terminal part is cut and polished along the line of a section VI to finish the end face of an optical fiber 1 into a specular surface. |
