PURPOSE:To seal the left and right side edges by means of ultrasonic welding by forming ribs with less tallness than ribs, which are furnished so as to contact the electrode plate surface in the central part, on the inside of the left and right side edges welded upon folding into two about the center of a separator sheet in such a way as narrow spacing to one another, and welding with ultrasonic vibration applied. CONSTITUTION:A separator 1 is made flat, and in its part 5 near the adhesion part, ribs 1b for welding having less tallness than electrode supporting ribs 1a in the central part 6 are formed at a narrow pitch between one another, and the separator 1 is folded in two along the fold 2, and the side edges are welded ultrasonically. Thus less tall rubs 1b are furnished in the part 5 near the adhesion part to thicken substantially the thin separator 1. Thereby the welding can be carried out while ultrasonic waves are concentrated on the tips 1b of the ribs, wherein there is no risk of generating voids due to abnormal heat emission, which should provide certain sealing by means of ultrasonic welding. |
