PURPOSE:To enable the automation of a retaining ring fitting work by holding the retaining rings stored by stacking on a catch in order from those of the lowermost end and fitting to the shaft of a work, in the device fitting the retaining ring to the shaft of the work automatically. CONSTITUTION:In case of work being started after a retaining ring 60 being held in advance on the jaw 56 of a catcher 50, this catcher 50 is descended and the descent is stopped at the retaining ring fitting position of the shaft 62 of the work 61 which stands by at the set position already. Thereafter, this catcher 50 is advanced toward the shaft 62 and the retaining ring 60 is fittted to the shaft 62. Upon completion of the fitting work of the retaining ring 60 the catcher 50 is retreated and ascended. When it is stopped at a preset ascending position, then, it is advanced again, a separation member 30 is moved toward the catcher 50 simultaneously, the retaining ring 60 of the lowermost step is extruded by separating it to the front part and this retaining ring 60 is inserted to the specified position of a jaw 56. Thus, the retaining ring 60 is made to be held on the jaw 56. |
