PURPOSE:To produce a stable and high efficient photochemical hole burning material by carrying out a sintering process in an atmosphere of a halogen gas when the photochemical hole burning material is produced from an alkoxy silane and Sm ions as raw materials by a sol-gel method. CONSTITUTION:A sol consisting mainly of an alkoxy silane is mixed with Sm in a form of SmCl2 to give a Sm concentration of 0.1% based on SiO2 in the sol and sufficiently stirred, and the pH value of the sol is adjusted with an ammonia solution to 4.5 to form a gel. The gel is dried in a drying chamber into a porous dry gel, sintered in an atmosphere such as a halogen such as Cl2 or a halide gas such as FH to produce a stable and high efficient photochemical hole burning material in which the Sm is singly dispersed in a divalent state. |
