The crank case 20 is provided with an attachment boss 27 disposed inside and near the mating face of the crank case and the clutch case 21 and the boss is provided with a hole 29 extending substantially in parallel to the kick shaft 12. The kick shaft return spring 25 has a free end 25a firmly engaged with the kick shaft 12 and a stationary end 25b inserted into the hole 29.
