PURPOSE:To avoid abnormal driving violating a phase excitation system by a method wherein, if an abnormal excitation instruction which designates the number of phases exceeding the maximum allowable excited phase number is supplied to an exciting circuit, the abnormal instruction is detected and all the excitation instructions which are to be supplied to the exciting circuit are withdrawn while the abnormal excitation instruction exists. CONSTITUTION:An exciting circuit 3 which supplies an exciting current in accordance with an excitation instruction to a corresponding exciting winding 2, a driving circuit 4 which supplies the excitation instruction in accordance with a phase excitation system to the exciting circuit 3, an abnormal excitation instruction detector 12 which detects the abnormal excitation instruction if the driving circuit 4 supplies the abnormal excitation instruction which designates the number of phases exceeding the maximum allowable exited phase number which is proper to the phase excitation system to the exciting circuit 3 and a protective circuit 13 which is operated by the detection output of the abnormal excitation instruction detector 12 and withdraws all the excitation instructions supplied to the exciting circuit 3 while the abnormal excitation instruction exists are provided. With this constitution, the error of an excitation sequence caused by the driving circuit 4 can be avoided beforehand through the logic judgement by the abnormal instruction detection circuit 12. |
