PURPOSE:To shorten the time after a reproducing state is attained before a reproduction signal is outputted by providing a capstan phase setting detecting circuit and a cylinder phase setting detecting circuit. CONSTITUTION:The capstan phase setting detecting circuit 19 compares the phase error signal from a capstan phase control circuit 8 and the threshold value for detecting the setting of the phase of a capstan motor 4 and supplies the signal relating to the setting of the phase to an output signal switching circuit 21. Similarly the cylinder phase setting detecting circuit 20 compares the phase difference signal form a cylinder phase control circuit 15 and the threshold value for detecting the setting of the phase of a cylinder motor 11 and sends the signal relating to the setting of the phase to the circuit 21. The circuit 21 is supplied with an external input signal and the reproduction signal as well and outputs the reproduction signal when the levels of the signals from the circuits 19, 20 indicate that the phase is already set. The above-mentioned circuit outputs the external input signal in other cases.
