<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a worker and improve efficiency at a sorting facility for merchandise which is not standardized and which is of various kinds having respective small quantities, by discriminating a sorting place into a plurality of sorting zones of a U turn shape against a merchandise handling place, and arranging so that the sorting destination of the sorting merchandise to be completed at a sorting zone unit may be indicated. CONSTITUTION:When truck 9 arrives at a merchandise handling place B, a worker makes the selection of an empty sorting zone A, and hangs the IC card of the truck 9 at a card reader 14, and the code of the truck 9, the code of the merchandise and the code of a sorting destination are inputted into a controller 13. The controller 13 makes the selection of an opposing sorting truck 1 on the basis of the sorting destination code which has been inputted, and its bay indicators 11, 12 are lighted, and the size and quantity of the merchandise are indicated at a pick up indicator 8. Sorting is done according to the indication, and a truck which has completed sorting is returned to the merchandise handling place B according to a U letter route.
