PURPOSE:To selectively spectrally sensitize a wavelength region of long wavelengths and to improve the stability of sensitivity and the stability of latent images by incorporating a specific content or above of silver chlorobromide particles, which have the locally existing phase of the silver bromide having the content of the silver bromide higher than the content in the circumference, into silver halide particles. CONSTITUTION:The hologen compsn. of the silver halide particles consists of the silver bromide in which >=95mol% of the total silver halide constituting the silver halide particles is silver chloride and which does not contain silver iodide. The silver halide particles have the locally existing phase of different contents of the silver bromide in either the inside or on the surface. The particle substrate and the locally existing phase of the silver halide particles having the discontinuously isolated locally existing phase on the surface exist substantially on the same surface of the particle and, therefore, both function simultaneously in respective processes of exposing and development processing. The higher sensitivity, the stabler sensitivity and the stable latent images which are problems with the red- to IR-sensitive high silver chloride emulsions are greatly improved overall in this way. |
