PURPOSE: To improve battery efficiency by sticking a zinc oxide conductive layer onto a substrate for forming one joint surface of an optical conductive element, and sticking one or more layers of a thin film silicon-hydrogen alloy onto the zinc oxide film, for forming an active optical conductive structure. CONSTITUTION: An element 10 contains a substrate 11 for example a transparent conductive layer 12 of glass and zinc oxide and a composite TFS layer. The layer 13 contains a p-layer 14, an I-layer 15, and an n-layer 16. The second conductive layer 17 adjoins the layer 16, with the layer 17 being a transparent conductive layer of zinc oxide. The light passes the substrate 11 and a front side electrode 12, and comes in a photovoltaic structure 13. The substrate 11 must be transparent, ordinary of glass sheet, however, an appropriate transparent plastic material may be used. Considering strength, desired optical characteristics, and stability against environment, a glass is desirable. A photovoltaic structure where light comes in from the side opposite to the substrate maybe manufactured, however in that case, the substrate 11 is not required to be transparent. |
