Polyester is prepd. by ester exchange reaction of terephthalate derivs. and ethylene glycol, and the n polycondensation reaction. In the process, 0.05-0.3 wt.% calcium compound and 0.050.2 wt.% lithium compound are used as the ester exchanging catalyst; five valent phosphorus cpd. of formula (I) is introduced at termination stage of ther ester; trivalent phosphorus cpd. of formula (II) is introduced at initial stage of the polycondensation reaction when degree of polymn. is less than 10. In formulas, R1 is H, or C1-5 alkyl, phenyl or their derivs.
