PURPOSE:To simply form a drive voltage generation circuit for driving a voltage-controlled type radiation controlling switching element, such as an insulated gate type bipolar transistor or the like, without taking any special measure, by adjusting the secondary side coil output voltage of a transformer installed in an electric discharge loop for putting the adjusted output voltage to use. CONSTITUTION:A secondary switching element Q1 which controls the radiating operation of a flash discharge tube Xe is formed out of a voltage controlled type element, for example, an insulated gate type bipolar transistor. Drive voltage being impressed on the pressure terminal of the switching element Q1 is generated via a simple control voltage generation circuit Co. The secondary voltage of a transformer T1 in the electric discharge loop of a capacitor C2 causing electric discharge when a first switching element SCR which applies an electric current to a main capacitor C1 which stores radiating electric charges by a low-voltage power supply (Bat) is turned on, is adjusted to a specific value by the control voltage generation circuit CC, so that the adjusted secondary voltage is impressed on the voltage terminal of the switching clement Q1. |
