Under specific circumstances, print jobs which are sent by a computer system via a terminal server 3 and an X.25 network 6 to an asynchronous printer 8 may be lost. The loss of print jobs is the result of the fact that only the first status signal CTS originating from the X.25 PAD 5, indicating that the X.25 PAD is ready to receive data, is continuously monitored by a terminal server in terms of the flow control of the print job which is to be sent, but not the second status signal DSR, indicating that the link to the printer is ready. The invention provides for an interface 4 between the terminal server and the PAD 5, which, on the basis of the algorithm SS 1 [n] = (SS1[o] .AND. SS2), produces a new first status signal CTS[n] from the original first status signal CTS[o] and the second status signal DSR.
