Cast iron contg. vermicular graphic is produced from a nodular cast iron melt, to which an S-contg. substance, e.g. elementary S. sulphidic ore, Fe sulphide, is added in accordance with the equation S=AxAg-B, where S is wt.% S in the substance, Mg is wt.% Mg in the melt, A is a factor depending on Mg%, between 0.9 and 1.2, and B is a constant depending on 5% in the melt, between 0.02 and 0.05. Ratio of Mg to S in the resulting melt is 2:1 to 1:1.
