On the flat bottom of the hulls of a catamaran or sailboard are fixed, in an articulated manner, deflector plates or steps, each one connected by means of a connecting rod/crank combination to an actuating bar equipped with the corresponding control mechanism, in such a manner that the sailor is able, at will, by means of said control, to act on the steps in such a manner that, with the craft at low or medium speed, said steps are folded on the bottom and, upon reaching a specific critical speed, is able to cause them to rock on their articulation so that they adopt a certain inclination which makes it possible to reduce the friction of the bottom of the vessel on the surface of the water. <IMAGE>
