The invention relates to a mechanical component 1 of the type including: - a guide rail 2; - a carriage 3 associated with the said guide rail; and - means 4 for entraining the said carriage 3 on the said guide rail 2, these being mounted on the said rail and capable of being moved by a drive member 5. Advantageously, the entrainment means 4 of the said carriage comprise a link 6 forming an oblong closed loop including two longitudinal strands and rolling up around two wheels 7A, 7B linked to the said rail and distant from each other, at least one of the said wheels interacting with the said drive member in order to entrain the said link in movement, and a linking member 11 linked longitudinally, on the one hand, to the said link 6 and, on the other hand, to the said carriage 3, the said linking member 11 being, moreover, capable of being displaced transversely to the said carriage by a distance which is at least equal to that separating the two strands of the loop. <IMAGE>
