The invention relates to a vat, in particular for winemaking, of the type comprising tilting means capable of tilting it with a view to emptying it. This vat is characterised in that the tilting means comprise, on the one hand, a base 2 composed of two frameworks 3, 4, one 3 being mobile and carrying the vat 1 and the other being fixed 4, the said frameworks bearing against each other by bearing faces 6, 9 comprising, facing each other, parallel bearing surfaces 6a, 9 and, in the extension of the said parallel bearing surfaces, so-called inclined bearing surfaces 6b, 9 forming a predetermined angle with each other, and, on the other hand, means 10 for pivoting the mobile framework 3 with respect to the fixed framework 4, which means can pivot it between two extreme positions: a so-called rest position, in which the parallel bearing surfaces 6a, 9 bear against each other, and a so-called inclined position, where the inclined bearing surfaces 6b, 9 bear against each other. <IMAGE>
