<p>PURPOSE: To efficiently and economically execute an operation without the degradation of a membrane by bringing a contaminant-contg. feed gas mixture contg. a permeable and a hardly permeable component and a heavier hydrocarbon and a lighter hydrocarbon into contact with a bed of adsorbent material before the mixture is introduced into a membrane device, to selectively adsorb the heavier hydrocarbon at the time of selectively separating the permeable component-contg. gas from the feed gas mixture described above. CONSTITUTION: The feed gas mixture, which contains contaminates contg. the easily permeable components and the hardly permeable components and further, contg. the heavier hydrocarbon heavier than C5 (pentane) and the lighter hydrocarbon below C5 , is brought into contact with the adsorbent material bed before the mixture is introduced into the membrane device to selectively adsorb the heavier hydrocarbon described above. The lighter hydrocarbon is passed together with the feed gas mixture through the membrane device described above, thereby, the easily membrane permeable components are selectively obtd. without the degradation of the membrane. The adsorbent material to be used is preferably active carbon and the life of the bed using this active carbon is 3 to 12 months.</p> |
