PURPOSE:To prevent a superconducting coil from being expanded in a radius direction by an electromagnetic force and to prevent it from being quenched at a rated value by a method wherein racetrack-shaped support plates which are fit to a shape of the superconducting coil are brought into close contact with and welded to stainless-steel bands on the upper-face side and the lower- face side of the coil. CONSTITUTION:For a superconducting coil 2, a superconducting filament of NbTi and a superconducting wire constituted of stabilized copper are wound like a racetrack shape; the whole coil is impregnated with an epoxy resin in order to prevent a coil conductor from being moved by an electromagnetic force. Racetrack-shaped stainless-steel support plates 10 are arranged on the upper side and the lower side of the coil via stainless-steel bands 6 wound on an insulator 9; they are welded to the bands 6 in a state that they are brought into close contact; rigidity in a radius direction of the coil is strengthened. Thereby, it is possible to restrain the coil from being moved and swollen in the radius direction of the coil when an electric current is applied; it is possible to prevent the superconducting coil from being quenched. |
