<p>PURPOSE:To produce the titled elastomer having cells of a highly uniform and fine structure, by reacting an NCO-terminated prepolymer with a specified hydrophilic polyhydroxy compound and water and/or an organic chain extender. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. NCO-terminated prepolymer obtained by reacting a high-MW polyhydroxy compound with an organic polyisocyanate is mixed with 1-50pts.wt. hydrophilic polyhydroxy compound, number-average MW of 800- 5,000, selected from the group consisting of a polyester-polyol containing above 50mol% succinic acid in the acid component and a polyester-polyol containing 0.5-30mol% alkali metal salt of an esterifiable sulfonic acid containing -SO3M (wherein M is an alkali metal) (e.g., sulfoterephthalic acid) in the acid component, and water and/or an organic chain extender. The resulting mixture is then reacted in the presence of, if necessary, a catalyst.</p> |
