The method stabilises ground containing peat by injection of free-flowing material whose state alters in the process to give the necessary solidification effect. Pipes with lateral outlets are first inserted in the ground, while the material contains a solution of alkaloid silicate. Such a solution, with tenside, is first introduced into the pipes (3) and left to seep into the surrounding soil. Carbon dioxide gas is then introduced at low pressure via the pipes into the ground, the consequent chemical reaction between it and the solution causing precipitation of silicic acid to give the desired solidification. ADVANTAGE - Reduces or avoids damage from settling.
