PURPOSE:To obtain the title material improved in a swelling speed upon contact with an aqueous medium and durability as a water stop material by dispersing a specified water-absorptive resin and a reactive polyether in a base comprising a rubber and/or a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A water-absorptive resin is obtained by polymerizing 10-100wt.% sulfonated unsaturated monomer of formula I [wherein R<1> is H or CH3; R<2> is a 2-4 C alkylene; X is NH or O; and Y is H, an alkali (alkaline earth) metal or a (substituted) ammonium], e.g. sodium salt of sulfoethyl methacrylate, with 0-90wt.% other water-soluble monomers (e.g. acrylic acid) in the presence of a crosslinking agent (e.g. N-N-methylenebisacrylamide). 5-80pts.wt. said resin and 1-50pts.wt. reactive polyether of formula II (wherein R<3> is R<2>; R<4> is a 1-8 C mono- to penta-valent hydrocarbon group; Z is an organic group having a reactive group selected from among a halogen atom, an amino, an epoxy and a double bond; n is 2-2,000; and m is 1-5) are dispersed in 100pts.wt. base comprising a rubber and/or a thermoplastic resin. |
