PURPOSE:To enhance compliance to changes in the road surface condition in a fluid pressure suspension device for car by partitioning a cylinder into a main chamber with a piston and an aux. chamber, changing the volume of main chamber with motion of an aux. chamber piston, putting inside of the aux. chamber into high or low pressure, putting it in communication with the main chamber, and thereby varying the spring constant. CONSTITUTION:When an aux. chamber piston 6 retreats in its maximum, the volume of a main chamber 3 maximizes and the spring constant minimizes to provide the most flexible suspension. In this condition, an air pump 11 is operated, and a valve 8 is closed to accumulate an air pressure higher than the main chamber 3 in an aux. chamber 4. Then the valve 8 is switched to supply the high pressure air in the aux. chamber 4 to the main chamber 3, and thus the spring constant is increased quickly. The aux. piston 6 is moved to the left by a motor 10 to decrease the volume of the main chamber 3, which provides a stiff suspension. Following the procedure oppositely provides a flexible suspension. This constitution enhances the compliance to changes in the road surface condition. |
