In forming a cable joint between multi-core cables, an elongate separator 10 of thermoplastics material is inserted between the jointed cores 2, 3, 4 and then deformable, projecting arms 15 of the separator are wrapped around the cores. An outer heat-shrink sleeve is then applied and heat which is applied to recover the sleeve causes the arms 15 of the separator to melt and flow and encapsulate the joint. |
