RADIATION DETECTOR

A new type of detector for the detection of invisible radiation and of charged particles comprises at least one radiation-absorbing panel (1) and at least one optical waveguide (2) disposed parallel to the surface of this panel and containing a fluorescent dye. The luminescent light produced in the panel by the absorbed radiation is converted in the optical waveguide into fluorescent radiation and is transmitted by total reflection to a photosensitive semiconductor element, where it is measured.
