PURPOSE:To recover an ink and foreign matter sucked through a nozzle in a hermetically sealed cap, prevent the ink and the foreign matter from being scattered into a recorder and prevent the interior of the recorder or a recording surface of a recording material from being contaminated by providing in the cap a cleaning member for wiping an ejecting surface in conjunction with an operation of a suction means. CONSTITUTION:An ink absorber 14 being porous and having an excellent ink absorptivity is provided in a hermetically sealed cap 7, and a blade 15 molded integrally with the cap 7 from an elastic material is provided at an upper part in the cap 7. A valve 11 is pressed against a flexible tube 10, thereby cutting off the communication between the atmosphere and a cavity 7A, and then an operating lever 13 is pressed downward to generate a negative pressure in the cavity 7A. This causes an ink in a nozzle to be ejected under suction into the cavity 7A, whereby bubbles, foreign matter and the like present in the nozzle are removed. Simultaneously, a suction force generated by an ink-sucking pump 8 turns the blade 15 from the chain-line position to the solid-line position. In the process of the turning, the blade 15 wipes an ink-ejecting surface of a nozzle part 5A, thereby cleaning the surface. |
