PURPOSE:To prevent the expansion of infiltering water and to prevent the generation of fungi, etc., even if the water infiltrates the optical cable installed in the sea water by using the heat sensitive expansion tape formed by coating the surface of a tape-shaped base material with an expansion layer provided linearly with plural water absorptive sterile layers intersecting with each other on the expansion layer. CONSTITUTION:The expansion layer 13 of the heat sensitive expansion tape 9 formed by coating the surface of the tape-shaped base material with the expansion layer 13 is coated thereon linearly with the plural water absorptive sterile layers 15 intersecting with each other. The optical cable 1 is made into the constitution consisting in housing optical fibers 7 in the grooves 5 of a spacer 3, winding the heat sensitive expansion tape 9 on the outer periphery thereof, and further providing the surface coating layer 19 on the outer side. The expansion layer 13 expands to fix the optical fibers 7 into the grooves 5 as the heat sensitive expansion tape 9 is heated. The water absorptive sterile layers 15 absorb the infiltering water and prevent the expansion of the infiltered part; in addition, these layers prevent the generation and propagation of fungi and bacteria by the sterilization effect. |
